Cocaine

The drug of excess during the late 70's and 80's, but still around to cause problems for impressionable teens and adults today.

The word Cocaine refers to the stimulant drug in both its powder (Cocaine) and crystal (“Crack”) form. It is made from the coca plant and results in a brief high followed by a very intense low. Usage of Cocaine also results in cravings for more. Methods of use include smoking, snorting and injecting. Cocaine users will experience paranoia and anxiousness even after coming down from high.
Cocaine is a powerfully addictive drug that can cause chest pains, lung trauma and bleeding. When cocaine is mixed with other substances particularly alcohol, there is an increased risk of sudden death. It affects chemicals in the brain that determine feelings of pleasure, therefore addiction is developed quickly due to the users attempt to achieve a “normal” feeling.

Cocaine is most commonly smuggled into the county at the Mexico border. The price of this substance is based on the purity, from $12,000 to $35,000 per kilogram.
